Tired of junk emails from your domain?
Don't spend your valuable time deleting junk mail -
Prevent it from arriving in the first place!
If you have a problem with getting
a lot of junk email or mail delivery failed messages from your web domain,
it is possible that a spam robot has harvested your address from your
website. The consequence of this is often you will get a lot of spam mail in
your inbox, or much worse, your email address or domain gets blacklisted
because someone is using it to send junk mail.
The mistake many people make is
adding an email link to their web pages e.g:
somename@binme.co.uk Of course you want to be
contactable don't you so how can you avoid your email or domain being
hijacked?
There is no 100% certain solution
but there are some steps you can take which give you some protection.
(Incidentally if you sent an email via the link above, you will have
received a Delivery Failed notice by now)
Steps you can take
-
Use a contact form with CAPTCHA verification
(what's this?)
-
Replace any text links to an email address with
a picture or button
(drawbacks)
-
Encode your email links so that they can't be
read by robots (how?)
